Justice For Hire

Originally a comic book series the team behind JFH have now displaced it’s characters and theme into a web series. It describes itself as ‘ultra realistic mixed martial arts’ and follows the heroes of the new and burgeoning ‘retribution industry’ as they go about there work. It’s professionally made and it’s nice to have a web series spin off from an established brand, rather than amateur stuff or short series that are made as a kind of sales pitch to the industry for other work. Below you’ll find episode 0, which is basically a teaser but is worth watching for the background and introduction to the world that Justice For Hire is set in, and then episode 1 below that.

Have Sword Will Travel Webisode 1

Here is another Science Fiction / Martial Arts crossover web series that I have found for you. This one features a time travelling bounty hunter, and although there are some hot women fighters in the series it doesn’t just rely on sthem the way the Kung Fu Girls Club and Ninja Babes from Space do, as there is also some decent story telling and half decent fight scenes. This first webisode is mostly dialogue to set up the story, but there is plenty of action to come - I promise!

Dojo Drama: New Web Series Pilot

Dojo Drama is a new martial arts web series that the blurb says is inspired by cheesy 1980’s martial arts movies like Karate Kid and Bloodsport. It’s actually shot pretty well and the four minute pilot episode at least is packed full of big kicking action, including some cool capoiera style moves. No clue yet as to when more webisodes are coming, although 4 weeks ago they said they were planning to shoot the next one ’soon’, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long as it does actually look like it’s going to be quite good.

Katana: Pilot Episode

From what I can tell from this first pilot episode this is going to be my favourite martial arts web series so far. It’s professionally produced and filmed - up to the quality of many conventional television series and definitely equaling Karma Kula (although without the special effects) - but what really makes it is the fact that it is packed full of realistic martial arts fighting action. The fight scenes are without a doubt the best you will see in a web series, and the acting is pretty good too. I can’t wait for the next episode, but unfortunately i can’t tell you when that might be - knowing these things it could be a while, or it might never turn up at all, but you can be sure that I’ll keep my eye on the situation and let you know. Meanwhile here’s the pilot:

KarmaKula: Mystic Warrior Episode 1

KarmaKula is a much more arty web series than the tngue in cheek ones that I have featured so far. Sometimes there are a few to many monologues, but there is some decent action too and I’d say it’s worth watching:

The first episode of another great web series combining sexy girls and martial arts action, this time its kung fu fighting schoolgirls. Episode 1, The New Girl, set the scene for the action to come.
